Today’s show features a conversation between the North Carolina Museum of Art’s Kinsey Katchka and artist Maria Elena Gonzalez (:40), whose work is featured in the museum’s upcoming exhibit “Far From Home.”  The exhibit, which opens Feb. 17 and runs through July 13, includes art that addresses the global displacement of people and populations as they relocate for economic, political or other reasons.  “Far From Home” features photography paintings, and sculpture, and is free.  Also featured is “Leaving the Light on For You,” from singer and songwriter Noah Paley, who makes his home on Hatteras Island (16:13).  Paley is featured in the upcoming 2008-2010 edition of the Touring Artists Directory from the North Carolina Arts Council.  The directory is a selected listing of more than 150 North Carolina literary, performing, and visual artists and arts groups who are available to perform or share their art throughout the state.
