Civil War Navy reenactors from the Carolina Living History Guild will demonstrate nautical skills and talk about weapons of the period on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the N.C. Maritime Museum in Beaufort.
The Carolina Living History Guild participates in various living history activities and showcases the history of the United States during the American Revolution, War of 1812 and the American Civil War.
The June 27 program will feature members of the group’s Ship’s Company, which typically portrays sailors and marines from the American Revolution, the War of 1812, or the American Civil War. Impressions include landing parties from ships found in and around North Carolina such as the Row Galley Caswell (American Revolution), US Gunboat No. 166 (USS Alligator) (War of 1812), USS Miami (American Civil War – US) and CSS Raleigh (American Civil War - CS).
The N.C. Maritime Museum is located at 315 Front Street in Beaufort. It is part of the Division of State History Museums in the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources, the state agency dedicated to the promotion and protection of North Carolina’s arts, history and culture, with more information at www.ncculture.com.
