Deadline for N.C. Arts Council Artist Fellowships is Monday, Nov. 2, 2009

The North Carolina Arts Council will accept applications for the 2010–11 Artist Fellowship awards for visual arts, craft, film/video and choreography until November 2, 2009. The fellowship award is $10,000.

The program is funded by the North Carolina General Assembly and supports creative development and the creation of new work for artists in North Carolina. The fellowship allows artists to set aside time to work and to buy supplies and equipment. North Carolina artists who have been year-round residents of the state for at least a year immediately prior to the application deadline may apply. Students are not eligible.

Applicants will submit the Artist Fellowship application electronically using Arts Grants Online, a comprehensive application web site. Complete details about the fellowship are available on the Arts Council home page at www.ncarts.org. Click “Artists Fellowship Deadline is November 2.” For artists without a home computer, there are computers available for public use at all public libraries.

Visual and craft artists, filmmakers, and videographers should contact Jeff Pettus, senior program director for Artists and Organizations, at Jeff.Pettus@ncdcr.gov or (919) 807-6513 and choreographers should contact Andrea Lawson, performing arts director, at Andrea.Lawson@ncdcr.gov or (919) 807-6511.

Composers of jazz, chamber, electronic, experimental, and symphonic music; songwriters; playwrights and screenwriters; spoken-word artists; and writers of fiction, poetry, literary nonfiction, and literary translation will next be eligible to apply for an Artist Fellowship November 1, 2010.
