RALEIGH – The 2013-2014 grant guidelines for organizations are now available on the North Carolina Arts Council’s website at www.ncarts.org, and the deadline is Friday, March 1 at 5 p.m.
The grants are designed to support arts organizations and artists who contribute to the economic, educational and cultural vitality of local communities throughout the state and are administered by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.
To be eligible to receive grants, organizations must have been producing quality arts programs for at least two consecutive years. All applications must be electronically submitted, including support materials. A paper submission of the application is not accepted.
The Arts Council invested $6.5 million in grants for arts programming in all 100 counties in the state during the 2012-2013 fiscal year. The Grassroots Arts Program is a per capita-based funding program and provided $2.3 million in arts programming, which was determined at the local level.
Arts Council grants catalyze support from corporations, foundations and local governments generating almost $17 in matching funds for every $1 invested. Arts Council-funded projects attract more than 9.2 million participants and over 2.5 million of these are children.
The N.C. Arts Council provides a wide array of rich arts experiences for residents and visitors of the state through grants to nonprofit organizations. These grants support exhibitions, concerts, theater and dance productions, festivals, literary reading series, artist residencies in schools, operating support for established arts organizations, community public art projects, and documentation of folk and traditional arts.
Organizations interested in applying for a grant should review the guidelines available on the Arts Council’s web site at www.ncarts.org and contact the staff member listed for their area of interest. Staff members are available to help organizations make their applications as competitive as possible.
